As we prepare to begin our 5th year of the $1,000 Start-Ups Program, we recognize and appreciate the tremendous value of providing opportunites for entrepreneurs and those with a dream to start a business.

Since 2020, $1,000 Start-Ups, Inc. has helped launch and/or grow 43 small businesses through our entrepreneurship, financial management, and life skills training program. The program is available at no cost to adults and includes up to $1,000 in business start-up funding.  We are now accepting applications for the 2024 program to begin on May 8 and concluding on January 25, 2025.

We want to share some of the highlights as we prepare for the incoming 20+ who have already registered.

Each year as one program ends and we prepare for the next, we evaluate and consider how we can strengthen and improve the curriculum to meet the varied needs of participants and to enhance the overall experience.

This year we have adjusted class times to better meet the needs of participants with jobs and families.  We have also added in person workshops for hands-on practical website and social media platform development.

Ways to support $1,000 Start-Ups

Our partners, donors, and consortium members all play a role in the development and success of our program. There are many ways to be involved and to support our mission:

  • To provide economic and re-entry opportunity by training and funding low-cost business start-up for potential entrepreneurs from traditionally marginalized or at-risk communities.
  • To build a consortium of businesses who mentor, support, and grow with each other.
  • To provide entrepreneurship and life skills training to potential employees of consortium businesses.
